Green-Fingered Juniors!

It has been a great year in the junior garden.

It has been a great year in the junior garden.  The children have grown many vegetables, flowers, herbs and they enjoyed taking part in a competition to make noisy, shiny scarecrows to keep the birds away, which Mrs Reynolds judged, and who was impressed with the range of designs. The children have enjoyed an outing to the local allotments where a bee keeper gave a tour of the hives and a lesson on how to look after bees. They have also each planted a pumpkin and look forward to seeing their results in time for Halloween. We are fortunate to have a pond at the school and the children love to study the creatures in and around it and were delighted to see newts and frogs there. They have been decorating the garden with a flower wall, hanging baskets, posters and plastic lid bunting. Crops were potted for the Summer Fair Crop sale which raised a fabulous £70 which was used to buy hand tools and new garden gnomes. This is a non-profit making group so any addition money is always needed. The clubs is always on the lookout for extra pairs of hands to help with the club, if you are interested please speak to the school office. Thank you to the children, helpers and parents for supporting the Young Gardeners Club again this year. Mrs Beer looks forward to seeing you again in September.
