Court Lane Junior Academy

Aims, Visions and Values

Children are at the heart of what we do. We empower people to be lifelong learners, equipping children with knowledge, skills and attitudes in order to aspire, adapt and achieve in an ever changing world. We embrace people’s energy and enthusiasm, encouraging creativity of thought, nurturing curiosity, respect, responsibility and independence.

  • Ensure equality of provision enabling all unique people to feel valued, be inspired and challenged; each to be our best selves, with skills to succeed in a world of increasing complexity.
  • Design and implement an enriching enquiry led R-6 curriculum that teaches children how to live as well as learn; building capacity of staff to engage in research based/reflective practice to develop curriculum expertise.
  • Create an environment which reflects our growth mind set ethos, enhances our learning and makes us proud.
  • Promote wellbeing with active healthy citizens who collaborate, respect others and recognise our own responsibilities in the community.
  • Implement an IT infrastructure that is fit for purpose and integrated to secure improved outcomes.

Our core values underpin everything that we do:

BELIEVE ….. We cultivate a growth mindset, with positive attitudes and development of every pupil’s learning behaviours, to support children to have confidence to try and then succeed in small steps for each learning journey. Our partnership with parents is essential and valued when encouraging young children to attain high standards of effort, achievement and behaviour. United we can achieve so much more to help children feel proud of success, support their next steps and celebrate their individuality.

INSPIRE….. We want children to enjoy and achieve now so they feel good about themselves and have a thirst for learning more. In order to do this we have to find out what they can already do, how they learn best, what interests children and how we can engage their curiosity, light their imaginations and deepen the learning. Community, LA and University links help us to network widely to do this.

ACHIEVE…… We have high expectations and ambitions that we strive hard to achieve for every individual, improving high standards and maintaining a positive reputation within the community.

We considered the type of learners we wanted to prepare for life and send on to their next school. If we were to get this approach right we needed to ask pupils, parents, governors and staff the characteristics and values we would like our children to display by the time they leave us. All the words our stakeholders used were then fed into a word cloud creator which made the most frequently chosen words appear bigger. This word cloud describes the type of pupils we wish to develop at Court Lane Academies and is how we arrived at our core values.
