The following are a set of spelling lists that the children are required to learn by the end of Year 6. They are sometimes referred to as the "tricky" words as they often don't fit any set spelling patterns or rules. They are split into two lists - one for the end of the Lower Phase ( Yr 3 and 4 ) and one for the Upper Phase (Year 5 and 6).
The children will also learn other spellings during the year which will be taught through the rules and patterns.
In 2014, with the introduction of a new National Curriculum, the teaching of times tables and the expectations were raised, The children should, by the end of Year 4 know their times tables and related division facts to times 12. So regular practice at home is essential.
