The Guildhall audiences were in awe of the inspirational J Rock performance by Court Lane Junior school pupils on Thursday 14th February 2019. Miss Coles, Mr Reccia and Miss Payne, essentially well supported by a large group of parents and staff (once school had ended) took 99 children! Once again, this was the largest entry with lighting and camera crew, set design and movers team, and narrators telling the story. Our ambitious limit of 100 children having this experience was very worthwhile. We were so proud to see and hear the result of 16 weeks artistic collaboration and oh boy did they achieve! Costume, hair and makeup ensured our pupils looked stunning and the dance was most effective in portraying the devastation of deforestation.
Court Lane Junior School won 11 awards in total, including the special "Spirit of Rock Challenge". Some of the comments from the judges such as "very topical concept", "Thought provoking!", "a strong and dynamic performance", "imaginative storytelling and creative use of the set" indicate the high level of expertise that had been achieved.
Thank you, well done and many congratulations to the entire Rock Challenge 2019 team, you were amazing and Mrs Ramshaw can't think of a more creative example of a school community journey to excellence.
